Every woman wants to keep her skin looking fresh and youthful, but figuring out how to turn back the clock and maintain the appearance you had in your younger years is tough, and a lot of women don’t know what to do. Thankfully, though, in addition to special dermatological treatments that can help, there are a few things that you can do at home as well.
Implement the following tips and routines into your daily skincare regimen in order to start seeing the results that you’ve always wanted for the skin on your face.
Lighten Up Dark Spots
Dark spots occur as you age, so it is really just a natural part of getting older. But just because it’s natural doesn’t mean that you have to deal with it. Instead, you can lighten up those dark spots and take years off your appearance right away.
To lighten up specific dark spots, try a hydroquinone cream, but don’t apply it all over your face. Hydroquinone will bleach your skin, which is what you want to occur when it comes to dark spots, but you don’t want to get bleached splotches across your entire face. Therefore, figure out what dark spots you want to eliminate and apply the cream at least two times per day for a few weeks until you start seeing the results that you want.
If you want to avoid hydroquinone, which is a harsh ingredient, you can instead opt for products that contain kojic acid or arbutin. You will not see results as quickly as you would with hydroquinone, but these ingredients are still effective against spots.
Smooth Out Your Skin
Rough, dry patches can make you look older than you really are. Therefore, another important part of maintaining a youthful appearance involves exfoliating your skin to smooth it out and make it soft and supple.
To help remove dead skin cells at the surface of the skin and reveal the younger looking skin that lies beneath it, purchase a microdermabrasion kit or have the procedure done at a dermatologist’s office. A salicylic acid peel treatment can also work.
However, if you suffer with sensitive skin and you want to be gentler, moisturizers containing alpha hydroxy acids can be implemented. You can apply these overnight and see the results when you wake up in the morning.
Keep Your Skin Supple
Dry skin will make you look older, so you definitely want to make it a point to moisturize every day. Believe it or not, this simple task can make a world of difference in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Use moisturizers that contain linoleic acid, protein, or hyaluronic acid if you suffer from really dry skin. If they contain SPF, that’s certainly a bonus because the sun can wreak havoc on your skin.
There are many ways to maintain a youthful appearance, but you need to be prepared to invest some effort and money into the process. Purchasing products that will help you turn back the clock will make it all worthwhile.
